As we turn the page to 2019, it’s customary to start January by reflecting on goals and aspirations for the new year. Whether you want to clean out your closet, redo your home décor or get involved with volunteering, Genesis has opportunities to fit your needs for the new year.

Clean Out Your Closet

For more than 20 years, the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store has been making incredible contributions to the Dallas community. From that dress you haven’t worn in years, to the chair that doesn’t match your new décor, our Benefit Thrift Store is a great place to bring all your gently-used items. At the Thrift Store, you can feel good about rehoming your once-loved items, because all Genesis clients are able to shop at the Thrift Store at no cost. This is especially impactful because each client can pick out what she needs for her unique situation – furniture for a new apartment, a blouse to wear to an interview, or a set of sneakers because she left everything behind when she fled her home in the middle of the night. Simply by donating your items, you can join us in our mission to end domestic violence and become a part of the solution.

Redo Your Home Décor

Located off of Harry Hines Boulevard near downtown Dallas, Lucas Street Antiques is a clean warehouse boasting upward of 60 booths. The antique shopping center offers everything from midcentury and industrial home decor to shabby chic and French Provincial ornamental pieces, including everything in between. Lucas Street Antiques is a hidden gem that prides itself on staying tidy, organized and well-priced, while offering a wide variety of vintage collections. And the best part? Lucas Street Antiques directly benefits Genesis Women’s Shelter, so you can feel good knowing that when you shop, you are a part of the mission to end domestic violence.

Start Volunteering

One of the most rewarding ways to spend your time is giving back to others. Whether you choose to join us on a weekly basis or just a few times, there are multiple volunteer opportunities for you at Genesis. When you volunteer, you give back to your community in more ways than you could imagine. Check out our volunteer opportunities to see which option best matches your passion, skills and interests!
