Witness the power of faith & fundraising in action at the First Ladies’ Bruncheon, benefiting Genesis at South Oak Cliff. The Bruncheon gathers members of the faith community together to bring awareness to the prevalence of abuse in the 75216 zip code, educate them on the life-saving services available at Genesis at South Oak Cliff and recognize the impact of leaders who align with our mission.
Funds raised from the First Ladies’ Bruncheon go directly to support the services available at Genesis at South Oak Cliff, including counseling, advocacy, childcare during appointments and referrals to our legal or emergency shelter services.

Dr. Mia K. Wright is a pastor, author, leadership consultant, and global advocate recognized for her ability to bridge faith-based ministry, corporate innovation, and community impact. As Co-Pastor alongside her husband, Dr. Remus Wright, Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Praise in Houston, Texas, Dr. Mia is known for her biblical teaching, practical insight, and digital ministry leadership.

Her TEDx talk and her book, Unthinkable: Do the Unordinary to Experience the Extraordinary, empower audiences to overcome limiting beliefs and embrace God’s extraordinary possibilities.
A champion for women’s empowerment, Dr. Wright serves as Executive Director of Metamorphosis, Inc., an international organization impacting thousands through conferences, mentorship, and humanitarian outreach in the USA, Brazil, Colombia, Tanzania, and South Africa.

An accomplished leader across sectors, Dr. Mia has led major community initiatives such as the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection at the Holocaust Museum Houston, where she serves on the board of advisors. She is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum and a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated.

Dr. Mia earned her Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California, with research focused on social capital in virtual religious communities. She also holds a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She holds a certification in executive wellness coaching from Pepperdine University, where she gained advanced skills in fostering holistic leadership and well-being. Her corporate background includes leadership roles with Merck and AstraZeneca, where she was recognized for innovative training and customer engagement.

Dr. Mia is a lifelong learner and world traveler committed to equipping others to bridge faith, leadership, and innovation for lasting impact. She and her husband are the proud parents of three sons—a minister, an attorney, and a medical doctor.
