How to Donate to the Genesis Back-to-School Backpack Drive

We are excited to announce that it is time for the 2025 Genesis Women's Shelter & Support Annual Backpack Drive! Because of donors like you, we not only are able to send all the children of Genesis to school feeling confident and ready to learn but also provide peace of mind for all the mothers we serve. At Genesis, we provide life-saving services to an average of 150-200 women and children every week at our non-residential locations, along with more that stay at our emergency shelter. Due to your generosity, we are able to give every child at Genesis a backpack filled with supplies for the school year. Keep reading to learn how you can participate!
Step 1: SIGN UP
First, fill out our Google form with your information, the desired grade range you wish to support, and the quantity of filled backpacks you are committing to donating. We do ask for all clear backpacks, as this is a requirement of most local school districts.
Please Note: The last day to sign up for backpack donations is July 25th as DISD school starts August 12th and we want to ensure we have enough time to get all the backpacks distributed to our students before then, but we have many other wonderful ways to support the women and children at Genesis after July 25th!
Step 2: PACK
Pack the number of backpacks you have committed to with the items on the attached list.
When choosing backpacks and the items to fill the backpacks with, we ask that you prioritize quality over quantity. We want to make sure that these backpacks and school supplies will last for the entire school year, and backpacks take a lot of wear and tear!
We also ask that you please provide all of the items on the checklist for that grade, but no additional items. We don't want any child to feel like they are left out if they see their friend or sibling get extra items that they do not get.
Step 3: DROPOFF
Drop off your backpacks at our main outreach facility at 2023 Lucas Dr., Dallas, TX 75219 during our drop-off week, July 28th-August 4th. We will be available to accept backpack donations from 9am-4pm any day during drop-off week. If you are unable to drop off your donation during these hours, we will provide a late drop off time on Wednesday, July 30th until 6:30pm. Please note, the later hours are ONLY available on Wednesday, July 30th.
