Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Location: Residential Locations (inpatient) and Non-Residential Locations (outpatient)
Program: Occupational Therapy
Schedule: Three days 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Two days 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Supervisor: Director of Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapist at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support will provide individual and group therapy to women and children who have been or who are living in homes with domestic violence. This position is responsible for assessment and evaluation to aid and determine treatment goals to engage clients in occupations that affect health, well-being and life quality.
The Occupational Therapist will work as a member of a treatment team in advocating for clients affected by domestic violence. This position also includes providing education on trauma’s impact in occupation, domestic violence, and caregiver support. In addition to clinical duties, Genesis Occupational Therapists will facilitate speaking engagements in the community to advocate for the profession and the role of OT as part of the treatment approach for survivors of domestic violence.
Skills / Requirements:
- Master’s or doctoral degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program
- Bilingual Preferred
- Pass the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination.
- Current Texas State Licenses in Occupational Therapy (preferred)
- Experience in a pediatric setting preferred.
- Understanding of trauma-informed client-centered interventions
- Highly adaptable, self-motivated, results orientated, and excellent people and communication skills.
