2021 Jane Doe Award Winner

NAJAH CLAY

Miss Black Texas International Ambassador

Genesis is honored to recognize Miss Black Texas International Ambassador, Najah Clay, with the 2021 Jane Doe Award. Bestowed in honor of the thousands of women and children who must remain faceless and nameless as they flee domestic violence, this award recognizes individuals or organizations that display an extraordinary commitment to standing alongside survivors throughout their journeys to abuse-free futures. As a veteran of the US Army, Najah Clay prides herself on demonstrating strong ethical values of integrity while fighting for those who have been abused and silenced. Crowned the prestigious title of Miss Black Texas International Ambassador, she raises awareness regarding the stressors and trauma women face each day. Her journey began after an assault inflicted by her drill sergeant in 2017. She pressed on and served as her company’s squad leader, protecting fellow soldiers and served as the student master sergeant of over 300 soldiers for the Adjutant General’s Corps, where she was bestowed a decorative award for her advocacy and leadership.

2021 HeRO Award Winner

Kevin Lillis

Founder of Hospitality Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Genesis is pleased to recognize Kevin Lillis with the 2021 Genesis HeRO Award. Named for the Genesis men’s auxiliary group, HeROs (He Respects Others), the award applauds men who use their voice and influence to take a public stand against domestic violence. As CEO of Hospitality Alliance and creator of JAXON Cares, he has raised funds and supported Genesis Women’s Shelter, Wounded Warrior Project, North Texas Food Bank and more. He most recently founded the Hospitality Coalition Against Domestic Violence (HCADV), an organization devoted to providing resources for victims of domestic abuse while training hospitality staff on the matter. Through his dedication to serving women and children in our community, Kevin has become a leading liaison in connecting survivors with emergency resources, hope and healing while raising awareness among his staff to create a zero-tolerance policy for abuse.
