Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for women and children who are victims of family violence. For thirty years Genesis has been providing safety, shelter, crisis intervention, on-going counseling and advocacy for women and children at both residential and non-residential locations.  Genesis continues to be a community leader in providing training and education on issues surrounding intimate partner and gender-based violence.

YOUR ROLE WILL SUPPORT THE MISSION THROUGH THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS:

The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for overseeing and advancing the agency’s community engagement strategy through its donor auxiliary groups, volunteer programs and community partnerships. This individual will serve in a leadership role on the Genesis fund development team and will be expected to build and steward long-term relationships with current and prospective donors. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of the Dallas community and how to mobilize key stakeholder relationships to support our mission.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Lead community engagement strategy with concentration on strengthening and diversifying portfolio of donors, volunteers and community partners
  • Manage three donor auxiliary groups (Genesis Alliance, Genesis HeROs and Genesis Young Leaders) and their respective boards of directors
  • Work closely with auxiliary board chairs to plan board meetings, facilitate annual board nomination processes and organize board committees
  • Develop member recruitment, engagement and retention strategies for auxiliary groups and oversee annual membership drives
  • Coordinate ongoing volunteer opportunities, educational programs, social events and donation drives for auxiliary members and serve as primary Genesis representative at all auxiliary events (including occasional evenings/weekends)
  • Manage budgets and develop annual revenue goals for auxiliary and volunteer programs
  • Continually implement best practices to ensure top-notch donor/volunteer experience across all Genesis locations
  • Provide oversight and direction to volunteer manager and support his/her professional development goals
  • Work alongside volunteer manager to streamline and enhance volunteer program based on agency needs
  • Collaborate with Genesis client services team to identify ongoing opportunities for donor/volunteer engagement and prioritize needs
  • Conduct presentations for donors, volunteers or corporate groups as needed
  • Serve as primary point person for all speaker requests and match Genesis staff members with various speaking engagements
  • Assists with any other projects/task as assigned

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication or other related field preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience in community outreach, nonprofit development, volunteer management or related field
  • Previous experience as a supervisor (indirect or direct) strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and professionally with a wide range of audiences, both inside and outside the agency
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and prioritize accordingly
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (donor software)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a highly fast-paced environment meeting various deadlines
