Part-Time Childcare Provider (Residential Location)
Part-Time Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and compassionate childcare to children in the residential setting. This position is responsible for the safety and ethical treatment of all children that are served in the Granny Ruth Playroom.
Client Service Responsibilities:
- Provide nurturing, compassionate, developmentally appropriate, and supportive care to children
- Help to ensure the children’s needs are met while in care such as feeding, diapering, emotional support, and play
- Serve as an advocate to all children who enter the program by assessing their physical, social, and mental needs
- Plan and facilitate activities for children of all ages (primarily infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children)
- Communicate with moms about the behavior and progress of their children
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the playroom and other areas, ensuring areas are stocked appropriately at all times
- Ensure the playroom setting is warm, comfortable, and inviting for families
- Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to DFPS as specified in the Texas Family Code
- Assist with the coordination, training, scheduling, and facilitation of volunteers and volunteer groups
- Work as a team member and cooperate with children’s department staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families
- Carry out other necessary duties in other departments/areas as needed when the census of children is low
Administrative:
- Participate in the development and implementation of the children’s program
- Make recommendations on improving and strengthening the children’s program to better meet the needs of clients
- Attend training as necessary to maintain accurate and adequate knowledge in the field of childcare, child development, domestic violence, and trauma-informed services
- Attend supervision with Children’s Program Director regularly
- Develop knowledgeable overview of agency’s operation and various programs and how they work together
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
- Must have experience working with children in a daycare or other childcare related setting. Some knowledge of domestic violence is preferred but not required
- Must consent to a Criminal Background check
- Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred but not required
- Will have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Demonstrates experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff, and community contacts and ability to effectively address and resolve conflict as needed
- Commitment to a holistic approach to providing services, as well as to community-based solutions for addressing the root causes of violence and survivor needs
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse teams, build consensus, and motivate change
- Acceptance of agency philosophies regarding domestic violence, internal conflict resolutions, and how decisions are made
- Adhere to Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support Victim’s Advocacy Code of Ethics
- Current CPR/First Aid certification strongly preferred; CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire
- Ability to routinely lift children (up to 35 pounds), move furniture in an early childhood classroom, and sustain long hours of active work (mostly on your feet). Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, and sit on the floor to engage with children
