Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Children's Department - PALS Fun Club (various shifts available)
Volunteers spend two hours with the children at our outreach counseling office, playing or facilitating a structured activity. We have flexible time slots to fit most schedules. Choose any day, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. A background check, one-hour orientation and an additional PAL Training (held directly after each orientation) are required.
Minimum age is 15.
Volunteers are based at our Emergency Shelter and assist with whatever tasks are needed around the shelter. You can help with everything from serving food in the kitchen, to helping out with the kiddos in daycare. Choose any weekday morning and have a flexible schedule to help with a variety of tasks. A background check and one-hour orientation are required.
Minimum age is 15.
Special Events Volunteer
We are always in the middle of our next BIG event around here, and would love to have you join us! Volunteer positions at these events is always at a premium, so please contact us if you know of a particular event you would like to help with, or if you would like to be kept informed of volunteer needs relating to all special events are they come up.
The goal of orentation is to teach potential volunteers about the agency's structure, the programs and services offered and to help them determine what volunteer opportunities best fit their schedule and interests. Once you have turned in your completed volunteer application, you can visit our volunteer opportunities and sign up for orientation.
Court accompaniment is intended to provide support to clients as they appear in court as a part of their involvement with the criminal and/or civil justice system as it relates to the domestic violence they have experienced. Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support provides trained volunteers to accompany clients to court for the purpose of offering emotional support. Click here for more information.

Breakfast of Champions
Volunteers will arrive at our shelter at 7 a.m. on Saturday to prepare a hot, healthy breakfast (or you can come with a prepared breakfast meal). Breakfast will be served buffet-style to our clients from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. You can use the ktichen facilities to prepare the meal, but everything should be ready by 8 a.m. Please note dress attire: No open-toe shoes, no tank tops, no low-cut shirts or form-fitting clothing. All shorts must be knee-length.
Let's Do Lunch
Volunteers will arrive at our shelter at 9:30 a.m. on their selected weekday to prepare a healthy lunch (or you can come with a prepared meal). Lunch will be served buffet-style to our clients from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can use the ktichen facilities to prepare the meal, but everything should be ready by 11 a.m. Please note dress attire: No open-toe shoes, no tank tops, no low-cut shirts or form-fitting clothing. All shorts must be knee-length.
Genesis Golf Classic
Volunteers can assist us with our annual golf tournament located at the Las Colinas Country Club on October 12, 2016. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: stuffing gift bags, setting up registration tables and other event decor, etc.
Volunteers can join Genesis for our most magical event of the year! Through the generostiy of our community, we are able to provide gifts of peace, warmth and hope to more than 1,600 women and children when they need it most. Volunteers can help wrap gifts to give our clients some holiday cheer during their time of need.
