Bilingual Teacher

Hours:  8:00-4:00 M-F

Responsibilities

The Bilingual Teacher at Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support works with the lead teacher to implement a school program for elementary and secondary students who come from homes affected by domestic violence.  The assistant is involved in all aspects of the school’s operation – delivering instruction, managing student behavior, preparing classroom materials, conducting parent conferences, maintaining records, and organizing and cleaning the classroom among other duties.  The assistant is also an advocate for students in the school and communicates with faculty and staff as part of the support team.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in Spanish
  • Maintenance of skills, knowledge, and applicable credentials by participating in professional development
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and sit on the floor to engage with students
  • Must pass a criminal background check
