Bilingual Therapist
Genesis Women’s Shelter provides quality safety and shelter to battered women and their children through crisis intervention and short term crisis therapeutics and to reduce the occurrence of violence against women and children in the greater Dallas area. We are also committed to raising the level of community awareness regarding the pervasiveness and effects of domestic violence.
Job Duties are as follows: The Bilingual Therapist at Genesis Women’s Shelter will provide individual and group therapy to women. This position is responsible for providing ongoing assessment and evaluation to aid in determining treatment goals, as well as providing crises intervention and therapeutic remediation of family violence. The Bilingual Therapist will work as part of a treatment team, formulating treatment plans, and advocating for clients affected by domestic violence. Hours: Monday-Friday. Three days will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and two days will be 1:00 pm to 9:00pm.
Qualifications are as follows: A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field is required; Candidate should be licensed in related field or working toward licensure. On site individual and group supervision is provided. We are looking for someone who has a high energy level, is self-motivated, results oriented, and has excellent people and communication skills. Bilingual Childcare Worker
Hours: Part Time Mon-Thursday 6:00 pm-9:00 pm (This position has the potential to become full-time)
Skills:
· Provide nurturing, compassionate, educational and supportive care to children in the playroom and in evening care
· Help to ensure the children’s daily needs are met while in care such as feeding, diapering, assessing health needs, emotional support and play
· Serve as an advocate to all children who enter the program by assessing their physical, social and mental needs.
· Plan and facilitate activities for children of all ages
· Communicate verbally and written with both staff and the mothers about the progress of the children
· Cooperate and work as a team member with children’s department staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in the program
· Carry out other necessary duties at the shelter and Annie’s House as needed when the number of children is low
· Make recommendations on improving and refining the children’s program to better meet the needs of the clients.
· Participate in the development and implementation of the Child and Adolescent Program.
· Attend training as necessary to maintain accurate and adequate knowledge in the field of childcare and domestic violence
· Attend supervision with immediate supervisor bi-weekly
· Develop knowledgeable overview of agency’s operation.
Knowledge Required:
· Related experience preferred to include work with children in a daycare or other related setting. Some knowledge of domestic violence is a plus but not required.
· Demonstrates experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes.
· Acceptance of agency philosophies regarding domestic violence, internal conflict resolutions, and how decisions are made.
· Ability to function as a team player.
· CPR/First Aid training preferred
